Why did Kelly leave The Wiggles? ›

Kelly was the yellow Fruit Salad Wiggle alongside Emma and then Tsehay. Evie took over as the yellow Wiggle alongside Tsehay due to Kelly moving to California and so Evie could better represent her aboriginal heritage.

It was said that The Wiggles would leave Playhouse Disney in mid-June 2009, but it actually left after May 24, 2009 when Playhouse Disney started their summer schedule and its 6am weekend airing slot was replaced by Little Einsteins. They then moved to PBS Kids Sprout that August.

It is significant that Anthony Field, the “blue Wiggle”, is a devout Catholic who has a tattoo of Our Lady of Guadalupe on his arm. Anthony candidly replied that to avoid singing he has been lip-syncing to Red Wiggle Simon Pryce's voice 'for years'. "For years I mimed! Believe this or not, I mimed Simon's voice for years. "I have this low voice and people would ask me to sing in public and they'd be very disappointed."

Field originated the role, but in 1993, when he had to undergo a hernia operation, the role, along with the Blue Wiggle and Wags the Dog, was played by Paul Paddick. Paddick would later play Captain Feathersword on a more permanent basis.

In 2011, after numerous heart issues, Jeff underwent a triple bypass and received a pacemaker, and therefore could not perform in the band's US tour that year. Jeff left the group in 2012. Since then he began making cameos and playing instruments with Murray Cook and Greg Page and was replaced by Lachlan Gillespie.

Since the mid 2000s, Page has suffered from severe health problems, which caused his early departure from the Wiggles and brief retirement in 2006; his 2012 album Let It Be Me, began production in 2004, but was postponed due to his health conditions.

By mid-2004, shortly after his marriage and the birth of his first child, Field's serious medical issues, worsened by their heavy tour schedule, caused him to consider quitting or re-inventing the Wiggles, despite their great success in the U.K. and North America.
